This book has really helped with my son. He is defiant, and won't make eye contact when talking to you. Reading, along with the pictures and explaining it has really made him want to be more interactive. He just turned 5 and when he starts to tantrum or not listen I ask him "Are you a pig will or a pig won't?" It helps him adjust his behavior and he's been behaving better at school. I like another book by this author, I will probably buy another he has written.
My daughter had a board book version of Pig Won’t, called “Isn’t Pig Won’t Naughtyâ€. It only had one short story and we read it over and over, so when I saw this-we had to have it. Several stories inside and I feel they teach valuable lessons. We often make references to pig won’t or not wanting to be like him. Definitely classic Scarry book!
This book is great, one that both parents and kids can enjoy. Richard Scarry doesn't mince his words and uses humorous examples to teach good manners and obedience. The treatment Pig Won't receives is harsh, and parents will need to make sure their kids understand that it's meant to be an exaggeration. It's all in good fun.
This was one of the most influential books on my life. Basically, it gave me a philosophy that has stuck with me and almost always helped me out in life: which is, always cheerfully volunteer for things and view your responsibilities as opportunities rather than burdens. Even though after 30 years I had a very imperfect memory of the book, that philosophy is still in there and comes through very well.
My Granddaughter loves this book, and seems very concerned when we are reading the story. I think she is actually learning something from it. Great book for the little ones, and a plus that there can be lessons learned.

My 4-year-old loves all of the books in this series, and loves the stickers that come with the books even more. I can't recommend these Richard Scarry paperback books highly enough!
Bought this after a friend recommended. My 4 year old loves to read it! It quickly became her favorite and she often talks about being pig will... I like to purchase books hat will teach something and this book defenately did so.
