It was a fine continuation of the series. Made me want to go back and check the page count, however? As I read it in a day. Cracked it open in the morning and read for hour or two, ran around all day long, resumed reading at 11pm, completed just now at 2am. I’m definitely a big reader and read multiple books per week, but I’m not a speed reader by any means.Anyway - this episode seems more like one long chapter than an actual book within a series.It is also one note. Just a brooding, melancholy overtone. Throughout ... the .... entire ... story ..... line ...... *yawn*.I suppose that’s ok for some types of books, or even genres, but here, it seems like we all mostly show up for one main reason - escapism. Action. Excitement. FUN. Of course there’s room for the emotions expressed/experienced here, but perhaps in small doses. Or widely split up.For sure this book in the series was more along the lines of “depressing psychological apocalypse†than “military zombie apocalypse†in nature.This IS a fantastic series. I’ve been devouring each story, so I guess I was expecting more from this newest release.Here’s to looking forward to the next leg of the journey ...... may it be a long one!
In this latest episode of 'Emergence' it seems that for every step forward the humans make, they are driven back two. Roland has created a new super alpha "Nick" who becomes a real thorn in the side of the humans. Just like the previous episodes the author draws you in from the first page and doesn't let go. Who will survive and who will perish.... only by reading to the end will you know.
I have enjoyed reading all the books in this series. It has been non stop action, almost from the first page until the last.
Roland finds out first hand the true nature of betrayal, but Nick becomes more powerful and blood thirsty than before. He wants a world free of humans, and battles are taken to the human refuges. A wonderful reunion and survival of ones he loves, makes Will more determined than ever to stop the alphas! Will his new power help or will he put others at risk? I love this series and it continues to get more exciting with each book. Humanity can be lost to monsters, but humans must not become their own enemy at this time. I look forward to the next adventure! An awesome read!
I can only say, that this series is FENOMENAL! A must read, give it a try!!
Full disclosure, I recieved this book free as I am on the pre-release reading team, a privilege! I would have bought the book anyway, JT is one of my favorite authors covering the post apocalyptic genre as well as other stories. His stories are full of action and lessons for survival in a crazy chaotic world. His lessons can be applied to every day life as well as teaching us what could happen if the SHTF!!! Great characters, twists and turns, surprising escalation by the enemies and we are left wondering how our team of good guys can possibly defeat this enemy who is evolving faster than science can catch up!!! Page turner and midnight oil burner for sure!!!
