I was expecting there to be much more in this than there was, so I am a bit disappointed. I would say go to his website. It definitely helped me understand the runes much better than any of the other sources that I had observed from the internet... about 50 some odd sources if I had to round.
I'll never look at the runes the same, since the universe gave me a car with LHH on it's plate. The fact I surivived driving it for 7 years, can only be thanks to this book. This easy to read, fun, clear book, is by far the most deeply sourced and connected description of the meaning and background of the runes I have come across. Tyriel has nailed in the profoundest possible way the mastery and understanding of life of our tribal ancestors. If you are interested in the runes and the wisdom behind them, this is the one book you mustn't miss. Buy!
I am no master in runes and only dabble in them. They are a great part of a spiritual path. I have followed tyriel on his website runesecrets and he has a great community of people that talk about runes and what they are and mean. this is a great book that goes deeper than just a short explanation of what each rune means. ( i do think that the book is over priced for what you get and wished i had waited for the kindle version)
Was a very small book with no girth. Not worth the money. I was disappointed. I have no problem paying 30 something dollars for a book if it is good and filled with information. This is just a disappointment. However, I encourage you to get it and see for yourself. You may find that there is something that rings true...for me it did not work. Use your own discernment.
I have been a fan of the blog RuneSecrets for at least 3 years now.This book is a phenomenal source of information.I was so grateful when I queried the site because I really wanted a book version of the Blog itself and I wanted to support the authors work.This book is worth every penny spent.
This is a very good book on Runes. The focus of this book is the Alchemy between the Runes. It's written in a style like as if a professor standing before his class of students; with the answers to the questions before they get asked. It's easy to learn how to do a Reading with the Runes because of the explanations taken from this book. Tyriel sets up the Alchemy between the Runes, and relates it to our own experience with life; he takes us from our early childhood onwards...
I found Tyriel's perspective interesting in that it seemed to be me to be informed by modern psychology more than the traditional frames put forward by Thorsson and others. I think that a serious study of runes must start with Thorsson, but Tyriel's book is highly accessible (whereas Thorsson, particularly in his earlier work, is difficult) and provides some useful insights.
I enjoy how this author brings science into his interpretations. I wish he gave reverse interpretations but maybe if we can get him to put down his other endeavors for a bit, he will write that book someday.
