I purchased this on a recommendation from a friend. I am a former elementary school art teacher who has an 11-year-old granddaughter who is a very talented artist. However, she suffers from what many children (and adults) do, fear of failing. This journal is fantastic. With humor and insight, the reader is instructed to do everything the perfectionist would rebel against: draw outside the lines, use colors they hate, tear out pages and run them through the wash and put them back...to name only a few. I went back and purchased another copy for another grandchild for a Christmas gift, with the instruction in the card to "Wreck This Journal and give it to your mom next year for Christmas".
I bought this for wreck it Wednesdays on bunnys channel but I already started using it and I love it so much. It's really good stress relief and super fun
This book inspires creativity, but even more important - it's fun! As a person who tries to keep my drawing and journals neat and tidy, I had so much fun wrecking (and continuing to wreck) this book. I took it to a concert and got an autograph - I'm usually too shy, but my journal gave me confidence. The musician wrote all over the front cover in a sharpie! I took it out in a rainstorm in Arizona and put red dirt in it - soaked me and my journal - I laughed, much needed laughter! I don't want to say too much - inspire your own creative moments. It makes me smile every time pull it out. Enjoy your journey!
I can never write in a journal even if I force my self to. This is a very fun journal to do with your children or for adults to do on their own. It doesn't require you to write any thing. Just be creative and make a mess. This is my motto I live by when creating something. Great for children because they don't have to write. They can have fun and make a mess. Just what children like to do. This also helps them bring out their creative side they didn't know they have. It brought mine out and I am an adult. Great for adults who don't like to write but like to be creative. This is also great for any college student. College can be stressful and boring. Sometimes college students don't have time to write in a journal because they are so busy with homework and assignments. This a great stress reliever for College students who hate writing or just don't have time to write.
I bought this for my 6yo granddaughter for Christmas. She was less than thrilled to get a book.But, her mom started paging through it and was excited! She saw immediately what I saw when I received the books: Really interesting art challenges like "put sticky things on this page."When I saw this book, I wanted to start copying some of the ideas for my toddler. Instead, I think I'll get a copy for the toddler! Sure, I'll have to help her read the instructions, but they're usually one line and easy to follow.I also plan on getting one for my other granddaughter's 7th birthday this year. Great rainy day and alone time activities.It's a book that will change with every use. I wouldn't be afraid to get one every year for the toddler to do--it will be interesting how her creative thought progresses in the next 4 years.Also, it's not limited to girls. The activities in it are art. It's not biased to gender. I may also purchase for my grandson's 5th birthday.4 stars only because it doesn't sit well with young children as a gift. "You got me a book??" Probably better just to buy and add to your rainy day stash.
The minute I opened the box, my 10 year old took her wreck it journal and began filling in the pages. This book is going to be perfect on our road trip if it's not finished before we start our journey. The pages are excellent quality even paint didn't bleed through.
I have the other Wreck in Journal and I got this one for my sister- I have to say I was a bit jealous flipping through it. Now I want one for myself! It makes a great gift for someone crafty! You should watch some You tube videos of wreck this journal for ideas and inspiration or if you want to see what exactly this book is about! I just love mine and my sister was happy with her gift- I bought it and also bought a school box that I filled with glue, colored pencils, ink pads, colored string, stickers, paint etc.- all things that you will need when you "Wreck" your journal!!!
My 12 yr old was extremely excited about this book the minute she opened the cover. Written inside are simple tasks like writing her name in big letters, then backwards. I shouldn't spoil the fun for those of you waiting for the surprises inside, but she read a page to me where it asks to spill all sorts of colored liquids on the page! How fun and scary is that? This book ALLOWS the owner to LET GO and do things out of the normal day to day expectations that we routinely fall into. IT feels so good to LET GO! What a great stress reliever i is to complete a page or two! Watching her lose herself in the joy of "throwing her book from the top of the steps" ...and knowing that it was OK! ...was truly satisfying for me as well! BUY THE BOOK. BUY ONE for yourself too.
